Description
Basil Gogos Famous Monsters of Filmland #14 Cover Original Art (Warren, 1961). Basil Gogos creates a stunning and memorable cover for the beloved monster mag with this image of Vincent Price as Nicholas/Sebastian Medina in Roger Corman's film adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe's The Pit and the Pendulum. The painted cover is done in acrylics on illustration board, measuring approximately 8" x 11.5", and it's in Excellent condition. The artist has signed and noted the art on the reverse of the board. If you were a child growing up in the swinging sixties and loved watching monster movies on TV, Forrest J. Ackerman's Famous Monsters of Filmland was your magazine. Cover art for FMoF doesn't come along often, and this particular piece is the earliest cover original to ever be offered by Heritage.
