Description

Barry Smith and Herb Trimpe Captain Marvel #11 Cover Original Art (Marvel, 1969). Smith's second comic book cover, appearing one month after X-Men #53. Mar-Vell of the Kree is on the run from a flying space-tank on this great cover! It is sadly ironic that Mar-Vell's love interest, Una, lay on top of the word "Rebirth!" on the cover as she dies this issue. The rebirth is of Mar-Vell himself as he gains new powers for the first time, in an attempt to re-invent the title into more of a super-hero format. This great Silver Age cover is ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 15". Signed by Stan Lee, writer Arnold Drake (both along the top margin) and inker Herb Trimpe (bottom right margin). Affixed to illustration board with overall tanning and some production oil stains in the margins. Una is paste-up. Overall in Excellent condition.
