DescriptionAslan Sukur Kizil Maske (The Phantom) Painted Cover Original Art (Tay Yayinlari, undated).
Born in 1945 in Bafra, a town along Turkey's Black Sea coast. Aslan Sukur moved to Istanbul together with his family. He dropped out of high school, with no formal training in arts. Sukur began doing comics covers for Tay Yayinlari in 1970 and became their most prolific cover artist over the years. In addition to his output for Tay, he also illustrated covers of several children's books for various other publishers. In Turkey, where the comic has been very popular for decades, the Phantom is mainly known as "The Red Mask" (Kizil Maske), and published under that title. Offered here is a terrific painted cover for an unidentified issue, with the Ghost Who Walks in an iconic pose. The piece measures 7.5" x 8"., and the art is in Very Good condition.
