Artist Unknown - Original Cover Art for Horace and Dotty Dripple #36 (Harvey, 1954). In 1931, cartoonist Buford Tune created the syndicated comic strip, Dotty Dripple, which ran for almost 30 years. In 1946, Harvey Comics began to publish Dotty Dripple as an ongoing comic book series starting with Dotty Dripple #3. The book changed its name to Horace and Dotty Dripple in 1952 and continued on until 1955, ending with issue #43. The artist is unknown, but the characters are familiar and the art is very slick, with tight smooth inking and a clear line. The original bristol board measures 10" x 14" with an image area of approximately 7" x 10.5". The slightest bit of aging, some very minor stains and hand-written notes along the outside edges of the work are noted but not very significant.
