Arthur Adams Captain America Annual #8 Wolverine Cover Re-Creation Original Art (Marvel, 2016). Arthur Adams arrived with a splash in the 1980s and became an overnight sensation with his intricate and quirky art style, and this piece is a particularly good example of his skills: a massive, detailed re-creation of one of the most famous covers in Marvel Comics history, depicting the epic clash of adamantium on adamantium when Wolverine crossed claws with Captain America in Captain America Annual #8, as drawn by Mike Zeck. Adams re-created a number of these classic and iconic Marvel covers, paying tribute to Zeck, John Buscema, Barry Windsor-Smith, Jack Kirby, and others. A true labor of love, this piece features meticulously hand-drawn logos and trade dress, corner box art, and other details that elevate the illustration and lend it a verisimilitude of authenticity that other cover re-creations often lack. Adams subsequently sold these pieces as black-and-white prints at conventions and through his website. While initially created in 2013, this illustration eventually saw print as a variant cover to Champions #1 in 2016 (note the 2013 date whited out on that issue's cover). This incredible, one-of-a-kind illustration was produced in ink over blue graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 15" x 23". Board is slightly toned.
