Description

Al Williamson The Amazing Adventures of Buster Crabbe #5 Unpublished Cover Original Art (Lev Gleason, 1954). Lost comic art history turns up... again! This series ended with issue #4, but production work on issue #5 was already underway for a story titled "Savage World", which included preparing a cover for the issue. In the early 2000's a silver print of the cover for this unpublished issue turned up in Al Williamson's personal archives (and was published in EC Fan-Addict Fanzine #2). Here we offer the original art used for that silver print. It seems to be by Al Williamson, with possible Frank Frazetta art on the female, and with Roy Krenkel backgrounds. This final cover art was created in ink with red ink key lines over graphite on Bristol board, with stat paste-ups for the header text and logo (some stats missing). You can see the "Silver Printed" stamp in the top right of the board. The image area measures 7" x 10.5". It is in Very Good condition. The prelim color cover art is in this same sale, so be sure to check that out also!
