Description

Al Jaffee MAD Magazine #162 Inside Back Cover "Fold-In" Painting Original Art (EC, 1973). Caption: "They taught paleface to smoke." One of the MADdest of the MAD-men, Al Jaffee, produced the ever-popular Fold-In feature that ran on MAD's Inside back cover since 1964. Drawing on a reader's natural inclination to crease and destroy the issue after discovering it was full of crummy jokes, Jaffee turned that into a "feature" for the mag. This great painting was produced in gouache with a matted image area of 16.75" x 21" (including the paste-up text sections). It is signed by Jaffee in the art area. Glass front framed to 21" x 25.25", it is in overall Excellent condition.
