DescriptionAl Feldstein Panic #4 "Which Twin Has the Phony?" Cover Original Art (EC, 1954). Here's the original production art for arguably the most memorable cover in the entire 12-issue run of Panic. While the real prize of this is the incredible Basil Wolverton "Twins" art (so ugly, it's beautiful), both it and the small Harvey Kurtzman drawing on the "Get Stung" mock cover are actually pasted-on photostats; these are, however, original production elements used for the cover, and not recent replacements. The masthead logo stats are also from 1954. Everything else is hand-drawn by Al Feldstein, including the little "infinity" Panic cover and the hand, holding it. Even though the image of Wolverton's "girls" is a stat, this original cover art is an absolute classic from EC's heyday and has tons of great eye appeal! The art is on Bristol board, with an approximate image area of 13.5" x 19.5", and is in Excellent condition, save for a bit of handling wear in the border areas. This is "ugly art" at its beautiful best!

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.View More Testimonials
