DescriptionAl Avison Black Cat Mystery #34 Cover Original Art (Harvey, 1952). While Al Avison is perhaps best known for his Golden Age comic book work for Timely, where he drew Captain America among others, some fans feel his best work was done for pre-code horror titles published by Harvey. Here's a great bondage cover by Al, featuring a fiend entombing a beautiful woman in a sarcophagus. The art is in ink over graphite with whiteout on Bristol board, and includes a section along the left side that was not used for the printed book. A small added piece of art has slipped off the lower right corner of the cover, leaving a glue stain, and there is a piece cut from the lower left, out of the printed image area, with glue stains along the left, right, and lower sides. The masthead logo art is an original production print on paper. Overall Very Good condition.
