DescriptionAl Avison (attributed) - War Battles #4 Cover Original Art (Harvey, 1952). Harvey Comics recycled the cover to War Battles #4 as a house ad for True War Experiences in War Front #9. The production staff added photostat type to the upper and lower left corners of the design. The copy along the left edge was pasted over the original dialogue, and as a result, the grenade was cut out of the page and repositioned, leaving a small hole in the paper. There are numerous stains on the cover, but they do little to diminish the explosive impact of this war-torn cover. The image size is approximately 12.5" x 19", and the art is in Good condition. The enemy is blown sky high by this perfect grenade pitch, and the dead-eyed dogface who threw it adds, "One more for my Aunt Bessie." This is a thrilling pre-Code war cover.
