DescriptionAl Avison (attributed) - Original Cover Art for Magic Comics #57 (David McKay, 1944). Al Avison was a prolific artist during the Golden Age who's ability to imitate other styles made him a perfect choice for the King Features line of established characters. He later continued his craft at Harvey, were his largest body of work was produced. This piece is a great example of Avison's unified compositions which frequently included the comic title. This is a piece of company illustration paper upon which the comic title was printed, leaving a blank area upon which this original drawing of Alexander and Daisy was rendered. The stiff paper measures 10.25" x 14.25" and is in excellent shape with very minor soiling and use of white out.
