DescriptionAl Avison (attributed) - Little Max Comics #1 Cover Original Art (Harvey, 1949). Joe Palooka's mute friend, Max, became the star of his own long-running series with the publication of Little Max Comics in 1949. Al Avison handles the pencils and inks of the red-headed rascal doing a little PR for his first issue with Joe Palooka. The art measures 10.5" x 15.5" and has a 10" x 15" image area. The work is clean, with some scraping by the artist to remove unwanted linework and some white-out usage, otherwise it is in Very Good condition. The top portion from the logo up has been cut and attached to the art below. The comic covers are photostats. Includes all the original title type and indicia paste-ups.
