DescriptionAl Avison (attributed) Dick Tracy Monthly #125 Cover Original Art (Harvey, 1958). Chester Gould's Dick Tracy comic strip was the first true to life treatment of police activity in the comics. Violent, brutal, often cruel, Gould's grisly take on crime and punishment occupies a unique place in the history of American comics in that it broke so many taboos. Al Avison's cover art measures 11" x 17", and aside from a missing art correction over Tracy's head, some staining and heavy edge and corner wear, it's in Good condition. There are some editorial markings in pencil along the extreme edges, but outside the image area. From the Joe Simon Estate.
