DescriptionAl Avison (attributed) - Dick Tracy #50 Cover Original Art (Harvey, 1949). The handsome, large-eyed Shoulders had massive shoulders and worked as a bodyguard for street criminals. In the Dick Tracy comic strip he accidentally shot himself as police surrounded him on February 22, 1948. Al Avison re-creates that infamous scene for the cover of Dick Tracy #50 with this horrendous humdinger of a cover. The art measures 11.5" x 16.5". There is some white-out correction, and staining around Shoulders' head, but otherwise this work is in Very Good condition. Includes the original logo, title and indicia type. The Dick Tracy art at the upper left corner is a recent photocopy replacement. From the collection of Larry Doucet.
