Description

Vic Catan (as Vicatan) The Fly #7 Complete 10-Page "Jaguar" Story Original Art (Archie Comics, 1984). The Fly had originated in 1959 as one of the creepier superhero books but soon took on a milder aspect. By the 1980s, sporadic revivals had turned back to the creepier attitude, including a drastic retooling of a supporting character, the Jaguar. Vicatan, the great Filipino artist, is in top form on this extended showcase for the Jaguar -- a ferocious far cry from the mild-mannered Jaguar of the 1960s. The 1980s were the day of the grim superhero, after all, and this resurrection finally allowed the Jaguar to live up to his animal-spirit name. Ink over graphite on Bristol board (first page is drawn on linen-textured stock). Image area, 10" x 15". Excellent condition, barring corner-cropping and light toning.
