    Description

Vaughn Bodé - Cavalier Magazine Complete 1-page Story "Pictography" Original Art, January, 1973 (Cavalier, 1973). Vaughn Bodé riffs on all things carnal in this remarkable one-pager, which was originally dedicated to fellow cartoonist Jeff Jones -- that could well be Jones as a Roman gladiator in the final panel! If you've been searching for the ultimate Bodé page for your collection, look no further, friend. This one has it all: famous characters like Cheech Wizard and Bodé's stone-age strip star, the Man; lots of lovely Bodé Broads (with those trademark "Oreo cookie nipples" that got him in trouble with Hugh Hefner); even a great self-portrait! All in luscious color, too! The piece is in mixed media on illustration board measuring 19" x 24.5", with an image area of 14.5" x 19". In Excellent condition. It's interesting to note that Bode used a brush in the last panel, something he gave up for mechanical pens and Flair markers. According to an interview given at the time, this was his first use of a brush in fifteen years!
