Description

Joe Beck and Otto Eppers Punch Comics #17 and #18 Story Pages "Punch & Cutey" Original Art Group of 6 (Chesler Publ., 1946). A hard-luck prizefighter and an assertive woman challenge a crooked betting racket in this lively example of the Chesler studio's character-driven story sense. Plenty of knockabout comedy and goofy wordplay. Included are Page 3 of a story from issue #17, and Pages 1, 2, 4, 5, and 6 from a story from issue #18. Ink over graphite on age-toned Bristol board. Image area, 12" x 18". Severe staining on one page. A deliberately blank lower tier was designed to contain a block of boilerplate text. Average Good condition.
From the Jim Steranko Collection.
