Jay Lynch Bijou Funnies #4 Complete 2-Page Story Original Art (The Print Mint, Inc., 1970). The Underground Comix boom was in full flower by 1970, with Chicago-based Lynch as one of the principal funnymen. His rambunctious Nard n' Pat series yielded this dreamlike story, "Cleo-Patrick," in which Pat the Cat dreams of a romantic tryst with Cleopatra Her Ownself in Ancient Egypt. Nard (Pat's human "master") is suitably indignant. Lynch signs himself here as "Jayzey Lynch" and draws the piece in a very 1930s-like style, with extensive use of hand-laid Zipatone shading film in a variety of textures. The medium is ink over graphite on lightweight Bristol board, with painted white retouching. Each page has a protective overlay, typical of Lynch's meticulous preparations. The image area measures 11.5" x 15.25". Apart from light age-toning and faint adhesive staining, the art is in Excellent condition. From the Eric Sack Collection.
