    Description

George Evans Crime SuspenStories #27 Complete 8-Page Story Original Art (EC Comics, 1955). Evans' realistic delicacy is ideal for "Maniac at Large," in which a timid librarian cowers from the fear that she may become the next victim of a serial killer. The artist's trademark, the ability to convey emotion through the characters' luminous eyes, is on generous display here. The Comics Code censors' axe had fallen by the time this shockeroo saw print -- in the final issue of EC's now-forbidden horrors-of-crime magazine. Ink over graphite, with Zipatone shading and painted white highlights, on Bristol board. The image area measures 13" x 18", with moderate toning and marginal smudging. Excellent condition.
