Description

Gary Hallgren Air Pirates Funnies Original Art 3 Complete Stories (Air Pirates Collective, 1971). One of the seminal Underground Comix studios, the Air Pirates parodied many classic styles of cartooning. Most notorious were Hallgren's razzes at Walt Disney's famous characters, including Mickey Mouse, Peg-Leg Pete, and Horace Horsecollar. (Lawsuits were frequent.) Hallgren and other Air Pirates talents became more prominent during the 1970s via National Lampoon. These splendid pages are undocumented as to publishing pedigree. Ink over blue pencil on Bristol board. Image area, 14" x 11". Irregularly trimmed edges. Very Good condition. From the Eric Sack Collection.
