Description
Fred Schwab Star Ranger #6 Complete 1-Page Story Original Art (Chesler Publ., 1937). An infant hoodlum opens fire in this jailbreak fantasy from the Chesler studio's slapstick factory. The gag is complete in less than half the page-depth, with the upper portion devoted to an advertisement (photostat), and the lower tier left blank except for a small pencil-sketch of a policeman's hat. The big-nose style of Chesler workhorse Schwab is self-evident, though unsigned. Ink over graphite on deeply age-toned Bristol board with an image area of 13.75" x 14.25". Severe handling wear, adhesive stains, and barked edges. Good condition. From the Jim Steranko Collection.
