Edgar Church Rex Keith, Ranger Page Original Art Group (undated). Among comic collectors, the name of Edgar Church is legendary. The careful Colorado collector amassed the finest condition collection of Golden Age comic books known to exist, later dubbed the "Mile High" pedigree. Church was a telephone book graphic artist with an ambition to become a cartoonist, and he bought his comic books as reference for his career. Here is a rare look at some of Church's own graphic storytelling efforts. These 27 Rex Keith, Ranger pages spotlight many of the themes that Golden Age comics became famous for, such as sexy "good girl" art, bondage, masked adventurers, and outrageous (cowboy) costumes. This lot features two stories. "Rex Keith and the Call for Help" is 20 pages long, and has 108 numbered panels, while "Rex Rides Again" is a quick four-pager. These pages have an approximate image area of 12.5" x 18". Some of the panel tiers were cut out and pasted onto a backing board, as were several lettering corrections. Over time the glue has dried out, so that some pasted-on elements are now loose, or have slipped off the page; otherwise, the art averages Very Good condition. Also included in this lot are three smaller Rex Keith, Ranger pages with an image area of 8.5" x 12.5", and they average Very Good condition.Lookup the Comic Book in our Guide
