Description

Dick Ayers Western Gunfighters #7 Complete 10-Page Story "Death of a Lawman" Original Art (Marvel, 1972). A frontier sheriff orders the bounty hunter known as Gunhawk to leave town -- then opens fire and jails the wounded Gunhawk. The set-up is a bold introduction to a mystery that deepens with every page in this stirring example of Marvel's long-term dedication to its readership of Western-adventure fans, persisting even while the publisher deepened its involvement in such superhero titles as Fantastic Four and The Avengers. Ayers' rock-solid compositions and dynamic figure placements are well-served by Roussos' emphatic inking, with an overall appearance very like Roussos' 1960s-period inking of Jack Kirby's Fantastic Four pages. Ink over graphite on Bristol board, with an image area of 10" x 15". Page 1 contains loosened logotype and credits paste-ins. General toning and handling wear, but overall in Very Good condition.
