Description

Dave Sim Cerebus #4 Complete 22-Page Story and Cover Re-Creation Original Art Group of 23 (Aardvark-Vanaheim, 1978/2005). All 22 story pages are the original art from the story that first introduced Elrod of Melvinbone! His first appearance, that is. Elrod is a satire, a parody that is, of Elric of Melniboné by Michael Moorcock by way of Warner Brother's Studios own Foghorn Leghorn. The large chicken (the cartoon character, not Elric) was himself a parody of a radio character "Senator Claghorn" from Fred Allen's 1940s radio program. Elrod is proof that "Two wrongs don't make it right" (That boy is about as sharp as a bag o' wet mice!).
The cover is a 2005 re-creation of Sim's original cover, produced by Dave Sim himself. This cover is in mixed media on illustration board and is signed and dated just above the 9.25" x 13" image area. The 1978 story pages were created in ink and Zipatone over graphite on illustration board with an image area of 10" x 15". They are toned with handling wear. The cover re-creation is in Excellent condition, and the story pages are in Very Good condition. The cover comes with a letter from Sim as provenance.
