Description
Curt Swan and Tex Blaisdell Hostess Fruit Pie Ad Complete 1-Page Story "Penguins On Parade!" Original Art (DC, 1979). An unusual item, even by Hostess advertising page standards! This one has no superhero in it at all. Instead it stars Batman's nemesis The Penguin, and he is defeated by the police with no need to call on the Dynamic Duo for backup. (Those fruit pies really are good...) Also unusual is that instead of running this ad for a couple of months as normal for the project, DC used it from January of 1979 until December of 1981. Making it possibly the longest-running Hostess ad in the series. Created in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 15". Part of the text header is presstype, while the story title is hand-lettered. The Panel 5 caption box and Fruit Pie images are stat paste-ups. There is a bit of glue residue from the text paste-ups in the margins, along with some production tape on them. Staple holes in the top left. In Very Good condition.
