Bud Sagendorf Popeye #6 Complete 6-Page Wimpy Story "Food! Food!" Original Art (Dell Comics, 1950). Popeye the Sailor has had many stewards -- none to match the dedication of Sagendorf, barring of course the originator, E.C. Segar (1894-1938). Sagendorf, who had apprenticed under Segar, proved the ideal choice to transplant Popeye from the newspaper strip into the comic books. This fine selection showcases a supporting character, the moocher J. Wellington Wimpy, in a tale of crime and punishment in the Western frontier. Brilliant stuff. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 13" x 18". Light to moderate toning, most noticeably on first page. Excellent condition.
