    Description

Bob Clarke MAD Magazine #75 and #92 Complete 4-Page Story and Page 18 Original Art (EC, 1962/1965). From the Innocents Abroad Dept.: Bob Clarke imagines children with political opinions. Did he predict the current administration? The feature's title is "Kids Letters to Other World Leaders". It was an attempt at humor in response to the book Kids' Letters to President Kennedy, with the usual MAD twist on it. The gag was so good, that Clarke repeated the concept with Issue #92's "Letters From Santa Claus", when Jolly Ol' Saint Nick responds to children's letters to him. Both are full of a different kind of Bob Clarke art than you usually see. The pages are crafted in mixed media on illustration board with an image area of 17" x 23". Some pages have blank areas where typewritten sections would be added at a later production step. They are not "missing", as they never were on this page to begin with. The boards are lightly toned and in otherwise Excellent condition. Some are matted on foam core board.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
