Description

Bernie Wrightson Web of Horror Complete Unpublished 7 Page Story "The Monster Jar" Original Art Group (Major Magazines, 1970). A complete unpublished Bernie Wrightson monster story from 1970? Wow, dreams really do come true! This is primo Wrightson and it's a shame it was never published and shared with the world. But it can belong to you. The art is ink and ink wash over graphite on illustration board with an image area of 14" x 17.75". Now, that's not to say that it's without defect... there are many. Extensive water damage on the left side has caused the boards to warp, the paper to peel away from the backing on some, and it has caused foxing and stains. Also there is heavy tanning, and the story title written in black marker on the board backs has (in some cases) bled over onto the front of the next page. The artwork itself is still gorgeous... if you can look beyond the defects. Overall in Poor condition, but still a remarkable find. From The Cracked Vault Collection.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
