Woody Kimbrell (as Marge) Little Lulu Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 8-16-58 (Chicago Tribune-N.Y. News Syndicate, 1958). A brilliant wordless gag featuring Lulu Moppet's indignant dog, a floor strewn with baseball toys, and a whopper of a spanking. Kimbrell generates a big laugh with some of the grouchiest facial expressions we've ever seen in a Lulu episode. The signature, Marge, is a contractual nod to creator Marjorie Henderson Buell, who did not work on the spinoff comic strip. It is a mystery why Kimbrell would have chosen to draw on costly Craftint page-stock without activating its intrinsic chemical-shading properties. Ink over graphite on DuoTone Craftint. Image area, 19.75" x 6". In Very Good condition, with toning, soiling, staining, and handling wear on the edges. From the Ray Edw Collection.
