Winsor McCay (signing as Silas) Dream of the Rarebit Fiend Daily Comic Strip Original Art (New York Herald, 1906). The fisherman's catch turns out to be more than he bargained for, in this strip by the creator of Gertie the Dinosaur and the classic Sunday comic strip, Little Nemo in Slumberland. While the multi-panel format resembles a Sunday strip, these "full page" examples were printed in black and white in the New York Evening Telegram's daily editions (on Saturdays, the strip was in a "half-page" format; there were no Sunday editions). The art is in ink on board with an approximate image area of 13.5" x 18.5", matted and framed with glass for an overall 22.5" x 27.75". There are several small holes in the artboard, and some light foxing along the right side, but the page still displays nicely; Very Good condition.
