Winsor McCay (as Silas) Dream of the Rarebit Fiend Sunday Comic Strip Original Art (New York Herald Tribune, c. 1905). Winsor McCay is well-known for his Little Nemo in Slumberland comic strip that featured a fanciful dream usually ending with Nemo falling out of bed and waking up. This strip did not feature recurring characters at all. Instead it featured a recurring situation... someone has Welsh Rarebit for dinner, then has a bizarre dream and the strip ends with them waking up. The comic strip was created in ink over graphite on 11 sections of Bristol board. They are arranged and affixed to a matting board backing with an image area of 13.5" x 19.25". The boards have waterstains, pinholes, and overall toning. Matted to 18.25" x 24.25". In Good condition.
