Wilson McCoy The Phantom Daily Comic Strip Original Art Consecutive Group of 5 (King Features Syndicate, 1958). If the Phantom had been a DC Comics character, the first episode of this day-by-day batch (8-25 through 8-29) would have been called a Secret Origin -- a brisk recap of the mysterious hero's beginnings, four centuries ago, and his perpetuation through successive generations. The scene shifts on 8-26 to depict the travails of a bookish schoolboy at the hands of a bully. Ink and Zipatone shading over graphite and blue pencil on Bristol board. Image area, 20.5" x 6". Slight toning, with occasional adhesive staining. A patch of lettering is missing from the 8-25 piece. Each strip has a vertical center-crease (file storage). Very Good condition.
