    Description

William Busby "Robbie" Robinson Indianapolis News Anti-Castro Editorial Cartoon Original Art (Indianapolis News Co., 1961). So Uncle Sam allows Cuba a whopper of a sugar subsidy, and two years after the 1959 revolution Fidel Castro seizes U.S. sugar properties in Cuba. A real kick-in-the-shin, argues Robinson. The situation was more complicated by far, with implications of Colonial-style domination by American commercial interests and, conversely, of free-market violations on the part of Cuba -- but Robinson's piece boils things to an essence, razzing both Castro's churlish ingratitude and the U.S. State Department's initially impotent response. Inscribed at lower right. Ink, white watercolor, and crayon over graphite on pebble-grain Coquille board. Image area, 10.75" x 11". Excellent condition.
