Willard Mullin New York World-Telegram Sports-Comics Panel and Custom Drawings Original Art Group of 3(Scripps-Howard, 1940s-1969). Mullin, long known as the consummate sports cartoonist, is well represented within this selection of published work (one piece) and two custom-drawn illustrations. The large-scale newspaper piece depicts 1940s football star Otto Graham. One specialty piece depicts Mullins' signature character, the Brooklyn Bum, the personification of the Brooklyn Dodgers baseball club. The other is a self-portrait, with a personalized greeting. Inscriptions hail collector-cartoonist Joe Sullivan. Ink over graphite (watercolor tints on the Brooklyn Bum piece) on Bristol board. Image areas, 6" x 9" to 10.5" x 18". Two pieces are matted, as if for framing. Toning and handling wear vary from light to moderate. Average Very Good condition.
