    Description

Wayne Boring (attributed) Superman Daily Comic Strip Original Art Episode #1215 (DC/McClure, 1942). A watershed year for Superman as a comic strip: Wayne Boring leaves the art studio of the character's co-creator, Joe Shuster, and goes to work directly for DC Comics and the McClure newspaper syndicate. Here, Boring proves himself as a definitive Superman artist -- a rank he would retain into the 1960s, darting between comic strip and comic-book assignments. This splendid WWII piece, an attack on a Nazi air-fleet, features three dynamic pure-Boring poses, as if the hero is dancing on air in surging balletic leaps. Ink over graphite on CrafTint board, with an image area of 19.5" x 5". Light toning, otherwise in Excellent condition.
