    Description

Wayne Boring (as Joe Shuster) Superman Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 10-5-44 (DC Comics/McClure Newspaper Syndicate, 1944). Boring, originally hired to help co-creator Joe Shuster with a mounting burden of deadlines, soon became the definitive Superman artist of the midcentury. (Boring remained unbilled, all the same.) This splendid example features upstart journalist Jimmy Olsen -- a goofier-looking character than the Olsen of the 1950s-'60s -- in a tale derived from Mark Twain's The Prince and the Pauper. Ink over graphite on DuoTone board. Image area, 19" x 6". Pronounced age-toning and adhesive staining. Very Good condition.
