Walter Hoban Discontinued Stories Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 6-9-35 (King Features Syndicate, 1935). Hoban's stellar contribution to slapstick hilarity, Jerry on the Job (1913-1939), eclipses his additional work, which nonetheless packs a wallop. Discontinued Stories had a short run during the 1930s -- the present example concerns an ambitious flea who finds himself going to the dogs. Literally. Hoban's command of the classic "Plop!" slapstick effect figures throughout the layout. Ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 23.5" x 13". Toning, scuffing, and edge wear. Otherwise in Very Good condition. From the Jack Kent Collection.
