Description

Wally Wood Joan of Arc Newspaper Comic Strip Pitch Piece Original Art (1963). Originally drawn as a proposal for a newspaper strip (along with three others devoted to Cleopatra, Concord, and Chenault), they were later published as a four-print set in 2000. This is Wood from his absolute peak, featuring an insane amount of detail-he was obviously showing off his full range of talent. Each panel is a treat! Created in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 26.25" x 18". Signed by Wood in the lower right of Panel 1. All text is hand-lettered paste-up. Toned and in Very Good condition.
From the David Mandel Collection.
