Wallace "Wally" Carlson Mostly Malarky Daily Single-Panel Comic Strip Original Art Group of 15 (Chicago Tribune Syndicate, 1947-67). Carlson's hilarious characters, Charlie Malarky and the comedy team of Maizie and Daisy, get a solid showcase in this generous selection. Their respective gags hold up beautifully -- rich in eccentric personality, smart-aleck banter, and unapologetic slapstick comedy. (Carlson also was the co-creator of The Nebbs, one of the finer domestic-situation strips in the tradition of The Gumps and Gasoline Alley.) The dates are 4-8-47, 12-13-55, 12-13-56, 10-21-57, 4-8-59, 12-28-60, 4-16-63, 6-6-63, 8-24-63, 10-23-63, 10-31-63, 4-9-66, 10-22-66, 2-27-67, and 4-4-67. Ink and blue-tinting (a code for the engraver to add gray-shading) over graphite on Bristol board. Image areas, 9.5" x 12" to 8.25" x 10". Light to moderate toning. Very Good to Excellent condition. From the Ray Edw Collection.
