Description
Virgil Partch and Others Gag Cartoons Group of 5 (1950s-1970s). Gagman Virgil "VIP" Partch toplines a selection of gag cartoons from magazines and news syndicates. VIP's piece (10-18-74) dates from his Big George period at Field Enterprises Syndicate. The brilliant George Clark has a panel from his long-running panel feature, The Neighbors (c. 1960s). Dick Cavalli, better known for the strip Morty Meekle, is represented in a gag panel (ca. 1950s). Richard McCallister, long associated with The New Yorker, offers a Christmas-season gag (c. 1950s). And Vahan "Sam" Shirvanian delivers a football gag from Argosy magazine (c. 1950s). All in ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image areas, 8" x 9" and less. General toning.
