T. E. Powers Joy and Gloom Comic Strip Original Art (c. 1910s). This comic strip from the early part of last century features his trademark characters of "Joy and Gloom". The Joys and Glooms often appeared in the strips, however no one buy the reader could see them. T. E. Powers was a favorite cartoonist of President Theodore Roosevelt. Powers was the first cartoonist to draw a color newspaper strip. He drew for the Hearst newspaper syndicate. This page is ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 9" x 15". Slight tanning with foxing and edge/corner wear. Very Good condition.
