Description
Sy Barry The Phantom Consecutive Daily Comic Strips Original Art Group of 6 (King Features Syndicate, 1982). Fed up and itching for freedom, Rex King slips away into the jungle, only to be spotted by his adoptive father, Kit Walker -- the Phantom himself. These consecutive dailies, dated 1-18 through 1-23 of 1982, launch "Tale of Rex", a storyline that would unfold over nearly eight months. Ink over graphite on Bristol boards with image areas of 13" x 4". Panel 1 of the 1-18 strip and Panel 4 of the 1-22 strip are stat paste-ups. The boards are slightly toned, with some staining, discolored screentone, whiteout corrections, blue pencil editorial marks, ink smudging, marginal abrasions, and handling wear.
