    Description

Stan Lynde Rick O'Shay Sunday Comic Strip Original Art dated 4-30-61 (News Syndicate, 1961). Lynde's first-hand knowledge of frontier life informs this philosophical entry: The hard-riding cowboy envies the railroad crewmen for their uncomplicated routine. The engineer envies the cowboys for their "happy an' carefree" existence. Great dialogue: "I've et so much trail dust today, I'm eligible for statehood!" Ink and Zipatone shading over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, of 27.25" x 12.5". Condition Very Good, with overall light toning, a crimp in the upper-right panel, and a bit of moisture rippling on the left side. From the Ray Edw Collection.
