DescriptionRube Goldberg Reluctant Playmates Editorial Comics Panel Original Art (c. 1940s). Best-known for his comic strips featuring crazy contraptions and stupid questions, Goldberg also was an accomplished editorialist. His prestige was such that the National Cartoonists Society named its annual Reuben Award after him. Here is a fine example of his political-'toon prowess -- this one, predicated upon the farming community's traditional distrust of the Republican Party. Ink and crayon over graphite on Coquille board, with painted white highlights. Image area, 13" x 16.5", framed to 16.5" x 20.5". Moderate toning. Excellent condition.
