Description

Richard F. Outcault Buster Brown Sunday Comic Strip Original Art dated 10-31-15 (Newspaper Feature Service, 1915). What could be more "Halloween" than a talking dog trying to buy cigars? Tige was the first talking dog in comic strips, and this is an unusual one in that he talks to someone other than Buster Brown and that person answers him as if that is normal! Wacky fun created in ink over graphite on Bristol board. The main strip has an image area of 18.75" x 20". It has pinholes in the side margins and some in the image area. The topper portion is on a separate piece of Bristol board with an image area of 18.75" x 4". The right edge is worn and ripped, and there is a 5.25" rip running from the bottom edge up into the image area. The topper section is in Good condition, and the main section is in Very Good condition. From the Outcault Family Collection.
