R. F. Outcault Buster Brown Thanksgiving Sunday Comic Strip Original Art dated 11-26-05 (New York Herald Co., 1905). The quintessential "kid terror" first appeared in The New York Herald on May 4, 1902. Buster's companion in mischief was his bulldog Tige and the pup is said to be the first talking pet in American comics. Buster Brown remains one of the most impressive merchandising successes in the history of comics. Millions of people have purchased Buster Brown brand shoes which were first introduced at the 1904 World's Fair. This uproarious episode from the fourth year of the feature, titled "Buster Brown's Thanksgiving," measures an overall 18.5" x 23". Aside from some small pieces of paper out of the trimmed margins, and some scattered staining, this ink on Bristol art is in Very Good condition.
