Phil Davis Mandrake the Magician Sunday Comic Strip Original Art dated 7-16-39 (King Features Syndicate, 1939). In the City of Gold, all bets are off. The City Warriors are ready to punish and sacrifice the gangsters who tried to rob them. Mandrake and Lothar can't bring themselves to let this sacrifice happen. Their action will trigger the eruption of the dormant volcano. Beautiful linear inking by Davis, for a Sunday with an incredible first and large panel.
