Description

Noel Sickles Scorchy Smith Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 05-06-36 (Associated Press Newsfeatures, 1936). Noel Sickles' time in the comic strip medium was brief, but his impact was profound. Among the comic book artists he inspired were Milton Caniff, Fred Ray, and Alex Toth. Sickles adapted a new cartoon drawing approach with an impressionistic brushwork that defined form by shadow shapes as much as by outlines. This daily strip showcases that distinctive style beautifully! It is produced in ink over graphite on lightly toned DuoTone paper. Image area, 21" x 4.5". Light handling wear. In Very Good condition.
