Description

Neal Adams Ben Casey Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 2-18-66 (NEA Service, 1964). Here is Adams' proving-ground, as a youthful prodigy, for the illustrative techniques with which he would help to revolutionize the comic-book culture later on during the 1960s-70s. Stunning detail, in defiance of the shrinking daily-strip dimensions of the 1960s. Adams also lands an early blow in favor of diversity with a prominent image of an African-American police officer (left). Ink and Zipatone shading film over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 14.25" x 4.25". Light toning and handling wear. Excellent condition.
