Description

Milton Caniff Terry and the Pirates Daily Comic Strip Original Art dated 4-27-37 (Chicago Tribune/N.Y. News Syndicate, 1937). Caniff's evolving command of cinematic lighting is especially evident in his blue-wash shading -- originally intended to cue the engraving plant to apply gray tones, but quite lovely in its original hue. Ink over graphite with blue wash on Bristol board with an image area of 20" x 5.5". Mild edge toning, edge and corner wear, and marginal pinholes. In otherwise Excellent condition
From the Bobby G. Murphy Collection.
